‘Human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.’
William James
Hypnotherapy is a talking therapy involving hypnosis which focuses the imagination and subconscious to help bring about positive changes to thoughts, feelings or behaviour. Many people seek hypnotherapy because they feel that they have lost control over a particular area of their life. By making the decision to seek therapy, you have already started the journey to regain control and get back to the real you.
Hypnosis is a natural part of everyday life. How do you breathe when you are asleep? How does your hand know how to pick up objects? Your breathing and heartbeat are automatic systems. You have learnt to control your hands and feet from a very young age, so they are now automatic. You think about picking the cup up and your hand does the rest. Watch a baby they do not have the same control, they have not learnt to use their bodies yet. Hypnosis is a way of communicating directly with the part of the mind that controls your automatic systems.
We all go in and out of hypnotic state, or trance, several times a day, often when we’re focused on the task in hand. Have you ever been watching a good film or reading a book and completely lost track of time? Trance is a very natural and safe state which can be easily achieved by guided relaxation.
As a therapist I have learnt to use the hypnotic state so that you can get the benefit that you desire. Together we will decide on the desired changes to work on prior to the hypnosis occurring. During a therapy session you will remain in complete control, and although very relaxed, should be able to talk or get up and leave the room if you want to.
Have you ever got so deep into conversation that you forgot your surroundings or the time? You were in a hypnotic trance; you were so engrossed in what you were doing to the exception of everything else.
Hypnotherapy is a safe and natural way to help with many conditions or issues such as phobias, anxiety, insomnia, panic attacks, depression, confidence, weight loss, pain control, smoking or compulsions.
These are just a small amount of what hypnosis can help with, the list is extensive. Everything from changing a habit, to coming to terms with and reducing the symptoms of things like cancer and Parkinson’s.
It’s important that you choose the right therapist for you, someone you like, trust and feel comfortable talking with.
If you are motivated for change and determined to succeed, hypnotherapy can help you get from where you are to where you want to be.
Hypnotherapy sessions can also be provided online. It’s convenient, easy to access and just as effective as working face to face.
We’re all becoming more accustomed to meeting people online via Zoom, Skype or Facetime. Hypnotherapy sessions online gives you the flexibility to access the support you need without always having to meet up face to face.
Hypnosis doesn’t reply on us being in the room together so online hypnotherapy is a safe and convenient alternative to face to face sessions. It is just as effective and follows the same structured approach. It’s useful if you are restricted by time, location, family commitments or medical conditions, making hypnotherapy easily accessible.
